FY2026 CoC NOFO: What Your CoC Actually Needs to Know

HUD dropped a $4 billion funding opportunity this week. Here is what matters for your CoC without the 47-page PDF.

The FY2026 Continuum of Care Notice of Funding Opportunity is now live with $4.04 billion available nationwide. Awards will be made by December 1, 2026, which means your timeline is tighter than it looks.

The big changes this cycle: HUD is tying renewal funding to performance for the first time. Projects that cannot demonstrate outcomes face reduction or rejection. Tier 1 funding must be at least 60 percent of your Annual Renewal Demand, covering permanent supportive housing and rapid rehousing. New applicants are explicitly encouraged this cycle, which is a shift from prior years.

Key dates to put on your calendar now: renewals are being evaluated June 15 through 19. The local new project competition opens June 17 and runs through July 14. Final applications to HUD are due August 26, 2026.

Bottom line: if your CoC has not started your local competition process, you are already behind. Pull your GIW, convene your ranking committee, and get moving.
